Musicians of the World – Attention!

Tuesday, January 26th, 2016

Bettina Network, inc. is looking for musicians who would like to have guests, for very brief periods of time – other musicians, conservatory students, those interested in music as attendees at concerts (possibly your concerts), supporters of your musical group.  These are people traveling for other reasons for a few days who would like to combine that stay becoming more acquainted with musicians, their lifestyle and possibly take a lesson or two while staying with you.  Consider talking with us about joining Bettina Network’s Hedge Schools.  We check out all of our guests and families.

You benefit via the income from their stay; the possible lessons they would like while there; their interest in  becoming knowledgeable about your career and lifestyle.  They attend concerts while in your area and are interested to learn more about your musical interests and organizations you have founded and/or support – and more.

Pianists, conductors, harpists, guitarists, violinists, accordion concert artists, and all of you who have a love of your craft and an interest in others knowing about it on a very intimate basis.  Call us and lets talk.

We do not cater to those looking to stay and who want everything for $19/night. No couch surfers nor air-mattress lovers.  We cater to music lovers who want to see concert artists thrive; who want to know a little of your lifestyle; who want to stay with you and some may even want to study your instrument for a brief time and who understand that such a privilege cost.  Not everyone plays an instrument who would stay with you.  Some may even want just a brief introduction with no prior lessons or experience, but who always wanted to know a little something about your instrument.

Wherever you are in the world, call us – email us – write to us.  We will come out to visit; tell you more about who we are and answer your questions about Bettina Network Hedge Schools.

If you are traveling and want to stay in a home where you can keep up your skill and technique with an instrument close by, call us for that too.  We have homes where you can use the piano or other instruments for hours at a time and your host will be delighted to share.  Stay with other musicians who share your lifestyle and travel needs, especially – but not only – when you are travelling for concert work.

Your 2016 Clothes Regimen

Wednesday, January 20th, 2016

copyright Bettina Network, inc. 2016 – Marceline Donaldson

With your beauty regimen taken care of – unless someone else has another version – it is time to tackle your clothes.

Advice is coming from all over, at this time of year, on what to do in your closet – New Year’s resolutions to make – and more, all around your clothes closet.

We have very strong advice – ignore all of it.

The worst advice being given out is for you to go into your closet and ‘clean it out’ of all those things you don’t wear.  Some say throw out clothes you haven’t worn for a year.  Others have guidelines for throwing away your clothes which are just as ridiculous.

We are a throw away society, but somehow our clothes have not come into the discussion.  Our advice is – whatever clothes you buy look at them as having to last a lifetime and then some, because you want to keep your clothes in such condition that you can pass them along to your children and grandchildren.

Clothes are not to be thrown away anymore than all those other things that we use and toss should be throw aways.

I have clothes from my childhood and in my closets are clothes that belonged to my mother, my grandmother and my great-grandmother and I wear them all.  It is a glorious time getting dressed because I put on the armor of the ages – my history on my back.  It is amazing how that helps when you get into something that is not quite pleasant or into controversy of some kind or into a very pleasant time which adds to the memories and becomes entwined in the threads which make up your outfit.

That used to be easy to do because the materials used for clothes were long lasting.  The silks wore like iron.  The cottons lent themselves to many transformations as the generations passed.  All you have to do is to be aware and take care of your clothes.  That means not throwing them on the floor, but being disciplined enough to take care of them when you take them off.  Put them in a dryer on ‘air only’ to make sure you don’t take little animals into your closets and use things like organic essential oil of lavender to keep the moths away from your woolens and other kinds of materials on which they like to feast.

Clothes don’t go out of style.  With a little skill with the needle, thread and scissors you can transform and re-create your clothes into something the material never dreamed it would become.  Hems go up and hems come down – your widen and then you shrink and then you widen again.  You don’t have to wear everything within the same year for it to be relevant and/or something you need to toss.

Those who recommend you ‘clean your closet’ are really cleaning out your pocketbook.  Making sure you are ready to be marketed to with this seasons’ styles – just make sure when you do buy clothes you buy timeless items and not the trendy kind.  The trend is not your friend.  It is what keeps many women broke trying to keep up and look like this year’s models – spending tons of money to look like those 13 and 14 year olds.

When I was a teenager, I wanted to be a model.  I wound up on a few billboards and in a couple places, but what I could do was limited.  Why?  Because to really model the top clothes you had to be at least 35 years old or older.  Why?  Because it was deemed you had not lived long enough and didn’t look mature enough to be able to elegantly carry off the clothes being designed.  Today, if you are 18 years old you are practically over-the-hill as a model.  Those 13 and 14 year olds are who we look to as our style icons.  Now there is a sick society.  How have we let this happen?  Why would I want to wear clothes that look great on my grandchildren?  And it is people my age that have the money to spend.  My grandchildren have what they are given by their parents and grandparents or what they work to earn at less than minimum wage – so what is gained by using this age group to market the latest fashion trends?

If you keep your clothes in good shape and wear them every few years, they will keep you looking good for as long as you want to look good.  I am amazed at how up-to-date and forward looking are some of the clothes made for me as a very young person.

Today, I am searching the estate sales for coats, furs, shawls, scarves, matching hats, etc.  No one wants them and they are being tossed out of closets at break-neck speed.  I bought a beautiful green sheared beaver long coat for $50.  It is so in style that the comments I get are – ‘where did you get that coat’ – ‘I want one of those’ – ‘that looks fantastic’.  And I will have it for many years to come.  Where did I get that coat?  From someone cleaning out their closet who didn’t want that old thing because she didn’t wear it more than once every two or three years and all the advice put into her was that those items are items you toss.

I have a gorgeous pair of gold and black satin dress shoes which belonged to my grandmother.  She looked fantastic when she wore them because her legs were her best feature and those shoes showed off her legs beautifully.  I didn’t inherit those legs – that part of the gene pool went to someone else, but every time I wear those shoes I remember the times I saw her in them and she becomes closer to me.  I inherited many of her values and for that I am grateful.  Wearing those shoes or just playing with them in my closets renews many of the things she taught me growing up.  Not the least was – ‘waste not, want not” – a saying this society finds foreign.  A concept we need to re-discover and to use it in every part of our lives.

My grandmother was a modiste.  She designed and made clothes and in her teen years apprenticed to a Parisian designer by the name of Mrs. Wolf.  I wish I knew more about Mrs. Wolf or Wolfe, but I don’t.  Maybe someone will recognize the name and give me some history of this woman who set my grandmother’s life on the path it took until she died.  I also wish I paid more attention to and learned some of her sewing and design techniques.  What I learned was through osmosis, mainly, but my head does turn at a well made outfit.  I do tend to look at the seams and the way something is made before I take it into my wardrobe and I can wield a needle with a little proficiency. Can’t say the same about my daughters, but I can brag about my granddaughters proficiency at design and sewing.  So that talent will carry on – not as their main vocation, but it will run, skip and hop alongside whatever else they do.  Hopefully, they will also ignore the marketing and advertising which encourages them to throw away and clean out their closets on a yearly basis so they will have room to add more.

One article advised that you clean out your closet with a well disciplined friend who will not let you ‘get away with’ keeping those things you don’t currently wear.  How awful to so mislead the public into an activity which hurts all of us.  I just turned a wedding gown into a beautiful ‘dress-up’ outfit.  The gown was lace – and the kind you can’t get today.  Not the synthetic lace, but the real thing.  It was white so I dumped it into a large pot of tea and now it is a beautiful color.  Since I didn’t know what I was doing, the color came out blotched and uneven.  That only added to the elegance of the newly evolved dress.  I saved the scraps remaining.  Who knows what they will become, maybe even years from now.  The lace will certainly last.

My suggested New Years’ Resolution for you is to avoid those who are telling you to ‘clean out your closet’ and think about the environment, the sacrifices made by those who created the outfit, made the materials, and in some cases the animals whose lives were taken for what you are wearing.  Protect your clothes, take care of them and gradually you will come to see a new outfit from an older one, a refresher turn in the dryer, and learn to clean your own clothes so the materials which destroy us and what we wear will not take hold in your household or in your family.

A Better New Year’s Beauty Regimen!

Monday, January 18th, 2016

copyright Bettina Network, inc. 2016

Now, Marceline, I am not competing with you – heaven forbid, I couldn’t stand the fallout – but I think I have a better regimen.  Based on your work, however.

Follow the regimen set forth in the preceding blog but add the following:

First thing in the morning – have an organic lemon squeezed into warm water and drink it down.

Use the liquid vitamin C and the whole plant aloe vera, but add to it Vitamin D3 which you get by clipping and squeezing a capsule onto your fingers and massaging it into your skin after you have applied the liquid Vitamin C and the organic whole plant aloe vera.  Let all three stay on your skin for at least 1/2 hour, but most of the day or night if you can.  If you have a little bit of money try this on your face.  If you have more money give yourself an all over massage before going to bed – in cotton pajamas.

It is transformative.

You might not want to print in the blog what follows, however, if you do –

I have a problem which probably stemmed from my bad diet as a child.  It caused constipation and lots of gas and now I have what I think are hemorrhoids and couldn’t go many places until I discovered a sort of cure –

I can go out in public by using a Vitamin D3 capsule, clipping it open and inserting the oil – you know where – and I am good for the day.

I’ve tried everything and nothing worked.  This does.  I should add – this works for me, I don’t know if it will work for you.

That lemon juice in warm water has helped me control the foods I eat.  It starts my day off by cleansing my digestive tract and making me feel as though I just had a great meal.

The Beauty Regimen of the Year

Tuesday, January 12th, 2016

copyright Bettina Network, inc. 2016

We have experimented with lots of ingredients to attempt to get the best beauty result over the years.  The one that stands out from 2015 is a combination of liquid Vitamin C and Organic Aloe Vera – the whole plant.

They are an amazing combination and from our experience have given the most healthy looking results.

Mix half-and-half in a cup – half liquid Vitamin C with half organic whole plant Aloe Vera.

After your shower give yourself an all over massage with the half liquid Vitamin C and half Organic Aloe Vera mixture

Then you can do one of two things –

1) Put on cotton pajamas and cotton socks – if you are really into this you should also put on white cotton gloves and go to bed.

In the morning, take a shower -because the mixture will be sticky and all over.  After your shower give yourself a massage with either Avocado Oil or Coconut Oil – try alternating the two.  And then you are ready for the day.  You will feel your energy level at high pitch.

2)  If you prefer doing this in the morning – after a shower or very warm soak in the tub – give yourself a massage with the half-and-half mixture – put on your work clothes, for work around the house – and after an hour or so take another shower to rinse off the mixture.

And again – give yourself a massage with Avocado or Coconut oil and you are set to get dressed for the day.

Your energy level and beauty/health look will be fantastic.

Whether you use One (1) or Two (2) depends on whether you like to do your beauty regimen in the morning or at night.

We prefer the liquid vitamin C which is in the orange bottle.  Some people tried the liquid C in the smaller dark brown bottle.  The problem we had with that C is the fact that it seemed to us to be full of sugar, although the ingredients did not list sugar.

Two to three times a week will be great – less is alright, but does not produce the same results.

Inbetween times, take a long 1/2 hour soak in the tub.  Put a quart of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar in the tub with you and just enjoy.  Eventually, your aches, pains, will go away and if your experience is like ours you will find yourself free from the colds, and other things that those around you seem to constantly suffer.

You will find yourself craving oranges or lemons if you stop this regimen so be prepared.  We think your body becomes accustomed to the vitamin C.

One New Years resolution – don’t put anything on your skin that you would not eat.  They say you have a barrier which prevents stuff from getting into your body, however, we have discovered that what you put on your skin shows up in your blood stream in minutes.

P. S.  When you shower, never – ever use anything except clear, warm water.  No soap or anything else.  It will ruin the goodness of the above beauty and health treatments and do nothing except pollute the water going down the drain in the shower.  Created by Satan is that thing called soap.   It destroys your body’s natural oils, which are very protective of you, and it actually does nothing that could be called good for you.  The marketing and advertising people have created the need for soap over the generations and have been very good at their job – just as they have created the need for your house to smell like chemicals.  Truth has been missing in all of the marketing and advertising.  They have gotten us to believe a really foul odor created by chemicals, is actually  “clean smelling.”

Be extra vigilant in 2016 of every ingredient in everything you buy and use.

Happy New Year – 2016

Monday, January 4th, 2016

Bettina Trademark
…..and lots of success, great experiences, with much learning which develops into wisdom.

We had an amazing year full of many challenges which we have learned from and used to improve Bettina Network, inc.

We added Bettina Network Hedge Schools – which you can read about here –

http://bettina-network.com/pages/hedge_school/

and while tentative at first, they are now the most requested places to stay in Bettina Network.

Members of Bettina Network’s Lifestyle Community will receive write-ups about additions to the Hedge Schools all throughout 2016.

We hope you will suggest additions that will improve our offerings. In 2016 , we offer, $150 for suggesting a home which becomes either a part of Bettina Network’s Hedge Schools or Bettina Network’s Bed & Breakfasts.

We are also still traveling to spend the night at the homes of those who want to join the bed & breakfast part of Bettina Network, inc. We do not take anyone into the Network without someone. who is a part of Bettina Network, spending the night to know what kind of experience guests will have in that particular location. We do the same thing with Bettina Network Hedge Schools so all of Bettina Network homes are thoroughly checked out and so are the guests who make reservations to stay in those homes.

Bettina Network Lifestyle Community is moving along and our goal this year is to make the Bettina Network Menu of Events one of the most outstanding and reliable calendars on the planet. That is a tall order, but we have experimented for a couple years and are now ready to move forward growing this gift for those who qualify. Membership in Bettina Network’s Lifestyle Community is not something you can buy. It is totally a gift from Bettina Network, inc. You access the benefits of this membership with a password which we send to you and renew yearly..

Besides putting together a calendar of events for a particular location, you can also use your password to add events which you would like to see offered by Bettina’s Menu of Events.

Bettina Network’s Blog passed one million readers about December 15, 2015. It was time for great celebration. The Blog continues to move ahead with an average of one thousand plus readers each day. In 2016 we will have a small number of sponsors of this Blog. Sponsorship will be open by invitation only.

If you are a member of Bettina Network’s Lifestyle Community you can send information, articles, blogs, pictures to add to this publication.

Reviews of places, things, books, etc. that we find interesting and stimulating will become a more frequent part of Bettina Network’s Blog over 2016. If you have suggestions, please don’t hesitate to send them.

Bettina Network Foundation, inc. is becoming amazing and beginning to fulfill our goals in ways we didn’t dream possible. You can read about the Foundation here: –http://bettina-network.com/pages/foundation/?ref=foundation and in Bettina Network’s Blog.

One of our big pushes this year – in 2016 – will be Bettina Network’s Estate Sales. It will be the end of February before that promise begins to be fulfilled, but we think you will find what we are doing with this part of the corporation, exciting. And – there will be parts of Bettina Network’s Estate Sales which will be accessible by Bettina Network Lifestyle Community Members only.

We have an improved money and credit card collection system. Our web site has a secure page where you can leave your credit card for any number of reasons and receive an email with the details of your charge within a minute of Bettina Network having charged your account. We love this part of our improvements and we hesitated on installing it because we wanted to be very careful with other people’s credit cards. This worked so seamlessly we fell in love and are now moving along very happily with our new system.

If you have suggestions for change, additions, subtractions, etc. please don’t hesitate to call us, email us, send us a letter, or however you communicate – stay in touch and help us keep Bettina Network, inc. moving ahead and fulfilling its original promise.

I couldn’t end this without a comment on the struggle we had all year and in past years as we suffered from having our business idea and business plan stolen without our knowledge or consent. That is still a problem. However, Harvard Business School has done a study on Airbnb and found racism in their system negatively affecting both host families and guests who are non-White. It is very difficult to maintain diversity/equality. It is easy and careless to install such a system which practices racism against minorities, especially in this 21st Century. Technology makes that kind of racism the kind which Pontius Pilate would understand and recognize immediately – bring that bowl of water and let those who practice such racism wash their hands and deny intentionality and culpability.

We look forward to all the excitement and experiences we are going to have in 2016 – the good, the bad and the in-between. All of it is what it takes to keep us on our toes and moving ahead.

Have a wonderful New Year!

From – All of us at Bettina’s

A New Year’s Suggestion for Better Health!

Friday, January 1st, 2016

We would like to start the New Year by wishing you the happiest and healthiest of days which will extend to the entire year.

We also wish you a year of the kind of work and play that will keep you healthy and will also help change the world.  Take care  of and empathize with those with whom you share this earth – not just humans, but animals and all the other creatures.  Too often we think only humans matter and we generally can also eliminate some of them from our care and concern.

An example of what one man did with a small part of his life during a very difficult time in the United States:  “Dr. Paul Bragg opened in NYC, Macfadden’s 7 famous “Penny Restaurants” during big Depression Era. They fed millions of hungry people with healthy vegetarian meals for only a penny! Inspirational music and literature was given out to inspire and guide them.”

To pass along to you something else from the Bragg family – their motto – ” “You are what you Eat, Drink, Breathe, Think, Say, & Do!”

Sometimes, or should we say most times, we act as though what we Eat, Drink, Breathe, Think, Say and Do has no affect on us whatsoever when in reality that is the sum total of who we are.

Finally, we recommend that you subscribe to the Bragg family newsletter.  It is free and always full of sage advice.   To subscribe you will find a box on the first page of their web site, which can be found by clicking on this link – www.bragg.com – fill in your email address and you are set to receive their monthly newsletters.

Excerpts from their JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2016 newsletter follows:

T. Colin Campbell launched a revolution when he published his breakthrough book, THE CHINA STUDY. Dr. Campbell spent 40 years researching nutrition around the world. What he found consistently and repeatedly is that too much animal protein in the diet – anything that comes from an animal like beef, chicken, fish, dairy, eggs – causes not only cancer, but heart disease, and a long list of other diseases. Doctors and Scientists everywhere are corroborating his findings. Legions of medical and lifestyle experts are joining the chorus: the Epidemic of Disease that is currently plaguing the United States is in large part due to the American Diet. We’ve been brainwashed by advertising, and tempted by low-cost, government subsidized industries to eat too much meat and dairy. Not only that, much of the commercial food in our country is now tainted with pesticides, GMOs, growth hormones, and other cancer-causing toxins! Want to stay healthy? Eat more fresh, organic fruits & vegetables, and Dr. Campbell recommends eliminating animal protein or cutting back to 5%. Your body will love being healthy and the planet needs you too!

January — New Year Resolutions for a Healthy New 2016

Don’t be part of World’s Health Crisis, be part of the Solution! 2016 is the perfect time to begin your new lifestyle: switch to a plant-based diet for you and your family; create a workout schedule and stick with it; learn yoga, meditation, or just plain deep breathing to help eliminate stress. What we eat today is walking and talking tomorrow. Exercise enhances circulation which is critical for elimination, and delivery of oxygen and nutrients to your cells. Stress is negative energy that can build up in your system and ultimately cause your immune system to collapse. Most people can stay healthy by making these simple, lifestyle improvements. Here’s to healthy 2016!

February is “American Heart Month”

Heart Disease is STILL the Leading Cause of Death of Men and Women in America. But did you know that heart disease is not only preventable, but reversible? And in many cases without surgery? Our country has a handful of brave, pioneer medical doctors like Dr. Dean Ornish, and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, who are standing up against the “system,” and curing heart disease by putting their patients on plant-based diets! And, as mentioned above, exercise and stress management is also important as well as abstinence from tobacco and alcohol! Learn more from the Bragg “Healthy Heart” book and other publications on www.Bragg.com.

ENJOY BRISK WALKS DAILY & HEALTHY Stationary Jogging

Do while watching TV, talking on phone, or at work breaks. It gives your 70 trillion cells a great massage that promotes healthy circulation! TRY IT! You can truly walk your worries away!
Dr. Paul Bragg opened in NYC, Macfadden’s 7 famous “Penny Restaurants” during big Depression Era. They fed millions of hungry people with healthy vegetarian meals for only a penny! Inspirational music and literature was given out to inspire and guide them.

Dr. Patricia Pays Tribute to her dear friend, publishing guru, Dan Poynter

Many years ago, Dan Poynter was an avid hang glider. Wanting to learn more about the sport, but discovering there were no books on the subject, he decided to write his own. The book became an instant Best Seller in the self-publishing world. Since then, Dan wrote over 130 books, became the go-to authority on self-publishing, and lectured around the world. He was Patricia’s friend and consultant for over 40 years! Dan passed away recently, an accident took his life. He will be fondly remembered in a Memorial Service at the Bragg Organic Farm in Santa Barabara, California.

Dr. Patricia Recognized on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars!

Celebrities, V.I.P.‘s, and throngs of Bragg Followers flocked to Palm Springs recently to honor Dr. Patricia for her life as a Health Crusader. A “Star” engraved with Paul and Patricia Bragg’s names was instated for all perpetuity. Patricia also gave health lectures at several Palm Springs venues, including the Palm Springs Health and Fitness Expo where she spoke to standing-room-only crowds!

“You are what you Eat, Drink, Breathe, Think, Say, & Do!” Patricia Bragg, ND, PhD
